Lift others in prayer

In the book of Ephesians, Paul lays out the spiritual tools that we have to survive and endure in this world. He calls them the “armor of God”, and the grand finale – the tool he ends with – is prayer. And not just prayer for ourselves – prayer for one another. He tells us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers for all the Lord’s people. Paul presents prayer for one another as if it is a powerful and effective gift that we can use in all kinds of situations. Intercession is a practical way of bearing the burdens of those around us. It connects us to one another and it connects us to God. As we practice this habit our hearts learn to pay attention to the patterns of God’s movement in the world around us.
