The Covenant Community is our version of membership.  Together, we will strengthen our values, broaden our core, and release people to follow Jesus together.  Although anyone connected to The Vine is a part of our community, we are creating a Covenant Community so that people can say “yes” to the movement at The Vine both personally and corporately.

Our Covenant Community is not an ambiguous pledge but an annual commitment; focused on the next chapter of the community’s journey and your personal journey.  Each year, the leadership shares the plans for the next year and re-casts the mission of the church.  Some things change but the overall mission stays the same.  Each year, individuals can commit or recommit themselves to this covenant with one another.

We believe the best way to learn to follow Jesus is in a community.  We were not designed to be with God alone.  We are called to be a reflection of God who is and always has been in community.   The Bible speaks of the church in images that include a connection with one another as well as with God.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4-5

Throughout Scripture, we see how God honors a covenant; which is different from a contract.  A contract is a consumer agreement for the sake of the self while a covenant is a relational agreement for the sake of the other and involves God.  The Vine hopes to be a Covenant Community centered around the movement of Jesus.

If you would like to join this movement as an expression in faith in Jesus, join us!

Several times a year, The Vine will hold gatherings where people can join the Covenant Community.  The next gathering will be Sunday after church on July 28th, 11:15am-noon at Covington MS.

Before the Gathering,  review these following documents:

The Vine Statement of Beliefs- We affirm the only "requirement" for membership is a belief in Jesus as Savior and Lord.   That being said, many would like to know what the leadership of a community believes.  This document spells out the core convictions for The Vine.

Covenant Form - This document is the way you officially join the Covenant Community.  It also gives you specific ways you plan on journeying with The Vine in the coming year.  This will be turned in electronically after the event.

Guardrails - Guardrails are a series of short, pithy statements that we use as rallying points—both for our staff and for the entire church. They are a way to encapsulate our theology and philosophy in memorable phrases.  Also, Guardrails exist to keep us accountable to keep us on the path we believe God has us.  We share these guardrails because it is important to share the culture we hope to create.

What Does Our Denomination Believe - The Vine is a part of a larger family, the Covenant Church.  Read through this booklet to see the central affirmations of our denomination.
