Compassion opportunities
At The Vine, we believe that part of following Jesus together means living with generous compassion and being outward-focused. We have a number of both local and global compassion partners that we are connected to and serve with on a regular basis. Find out more about them below and contact the Compassion Team if you’d like to get involved.
These are our current compassion partners:
Red Oak Hope is a local non-profit dedicated to bringing freedom, hope, and restoration to survivors of sexual exploitation. They work to stop trafficking and exploitation on a large scale, while simultaneously providing holistic care to individuals and communities already affected. We provide financial gifts to Red Oak Hope and have also coordinated some on-site service projects as well.
More Than Welcome exists to help refugees and asylum seekers successfully transition into our community and making them feel more than welcome in the process. More Than Welcome shares the mission of Christ to welcome, serve, and love the foreigner. The Vine has provided financial gifts and has also contributed to a backpack drive for school-aged children.
Families experiencing foster care often feel tired and alone. Most caregivers foster for less than a year, citing burnout and lack of support. At the same time, 85 percent of people who are not foster parents say they care about vulnerable children and want to help. Foster Village bridges this gap between those experiencing foster care and those who want to help, meeting practical needs and providing holistic support beyond the system.
Every young person deserves safety, stability, and the chance to shape their own future. Yet tonight in Central Texas, more than a thousand youth—many who spent time in foster care or who are supporting a child of their own—don’t have a safe place to sleep. Some will stay in cars, on a friend’s floor, or outside. Others will keep moving from one temporary arrangement to the next, while trying to stay in school, hold a job, or care for their mental health. LifeWorks is here to change that.
Africa New Life is a non-profit based in Rwanda that exists to transform lives and communities through preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and acts of compassion. Many Vine members sponsor students in Rwanda through Africa New Life, and we have also hosted two meal-packing events that have provided 100,000 meals to students in Rwanda.
Community First! Village is a master planned neighborhood that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women who are coming out of chronic homelessness. A development of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, this transformative residential program exists to love and serve our neighbors who have been living on the streets, while also empowering the surrounding community into a lifestyle of service with the homeless.
